Green was not targeted heavily, but he could have paid off his fantasy owners with a touchdown when he got wide open in the back of the end zone on a play-action pass in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, Panthers DE Kony Ealy leaped in the air and pawed the pass to the turf. Green should be a factor in the red zone all season — the almost touchdown looked very similar to the actual touchdown he scored in the preseason — but his yardage total will be limited in a run-first offense. He is a TE2 moving forward.
It’s just a matter of time before this guy goes off. But when? Your guess is as good as mine. Tonight we saw a run first offense that spread the ball around to it’s receivers (26 attempts by Siemian). Siemian is still getting his feet wet and should improve as the season goes on. Virgil Green is the epitome of a sleeper. Green is a TE2 until he breaks out.
